I know I haven't had time to this but quick recap...last week I took apart an Oliver engine so we could list it on Craig's list, planted a lot more of the garden, mowed lawn, cleaned more in the barn, and a whole lot more stuff. We went to the first tractor pull of the season, which was England Prairie. He got 2 1sts with the Oliver and nothing with the UB, which is backwards!!!
This week I had errands to run yesterday and mowed the lawn until the belt wouldn't stay on anymore...worked on it for 2 1/2 hours last night and thought we had it but nope!!!
I spent the morning working on and finally finishing the 2010 tractor pull schedule....hope we don't have to go to all them!! They are fun but expensive! Now, I am going to town and get gas and hit a couple of nurseries and get some flowers.
Went to 2 nurseries and went nuts on the flowers, came home and planted, then helped Dwayne cut some metal to weld onto the rock rake, moved all the boxes and pallets in the yard to the back pasture that he brought home from work, chased the horses back in after they ran through the garden and that was my long day.

Wow...woke up to beautiful sunshine today!!! Yeah!!!! Now maybe I can get out of this funky mood I am in. We had cloudy dark rainy weather for most of this month. Got another 1/4" last night so all in all we got about 3 1/2" of rain so far this month.
It's only 10:30 and I have gotten a lot done already. Been to town, cleaned out the wood room, fed all the animals, brought the sheep in and caught my little lamby who was limping. I can't see anything wrong with her leg but I think she got kicked by one of the horses when I brought them into their pen the other day to get the old one out of the cold rain. I think the lamb will be okay though.
I plan on picking dandelions today for wine and jelly and maybe flower fritters and picking stinging nettle to process and put in my chicken pot pie for supper. I also want to measure things for my second sheep pen and see how things are going to work out. It will probably be used for my ram. I have 6 corn crib panels that will work nicely and some woven wire for the far side. I just need to figure how big I can go.
Afternoon: Didn't get a whole lot figured out on the fence. Did start cleaning out the barn...what a job that is going to be...I can't do to much more until it dries up more and I can buzz around in the skid loader and move stuff around and bring it to were it goes.
Evening: Spent the evening working on the rockpicker.

A new begining

I am starting this blog as a way to remember all the things going on in my new busy life and to record things such as weather and garden things. This beginning will probably be long as I have some catching up to do to remember things from last August when I started on this new chapter in my life!

Today is day 4 of dark cloudy rainy weather but it is suppose to be the last. Last Sunday, Mother's day, we started planting the filed garden. We planted 2 kinds of potatoes, 2 kinds of onions, carrots, and radishes. April 5th, I started my tomatoes, brussel sprouts and peppers in the house. Sometime between then and now I also started some pumpkins, melons, and zukes. Yesterday, I replanted most of my tomatoes into a big wooden box. I had originally put this box into the wheelbarrow and filled it with dirt from my field garden. I then pushed it to the house and waited for BF to carry it in for me. We figured after he brought it in that it probably weighed over 100 pounds. My guy is strong but he really struggled getting that thing in here. So, I took out one 5 gallon pail of dirt and replanted the tomatoes. I have a feeling that I will probably add some of that dirt back in though! Anyway, that is my garden so far. Oh, I planted peas, lettuce and spinach in the old garden about six weeks ago. They are off to a slow start so far.
We have gotten about 2 and half inches of rain this week. There are puddles everywhere and everything is mud. BF was going to seed one field with wheat on Monday but it started raining just as he got home from work. Monday I cleaned and organized the tool room. Just waiting for shelves for one wall for electric fence supplies. Tuesday it was only 39 at 11:00 am. Can't wait for the forcasted 70's coming up this next week.
